Admission Workflow
1. Admission Request
When a clinician decides a patient needs admission:

- Request sent to admissions department
2. Approval and Admission
Admissions department reviews and approves the request:
- Bed availability checked
- Patient admitted with timestamp
- Encounter linked to admission for continuity
3. Bed Assignment
Using the visual bed management grid:

Discharge Workflow
1. Discharge Decision
When the patient is ready for discharge:
- Discharge summary is created
- Final diagnosis documented with ICD-10 coding
- Discharge status selected (Routine, AMA, Transfer, Deceased)
- Follow-up appointment scheduled
2. Discharge Summary
The discharge summary includes:
- Admission date and reason
- Significant findings during stay
- Procedures performed
- Final diagnosis
- Discharge medications
- Follow-up instructions
3. Final Billing
Upon discharge, all services are consolidated for billing:
- Room charges (by bed type and duration)
- Nursing services
- Medications administered
- Lab tests and imaging
- Procedures performed
- Consultation fees
Insurance claims are generated automatically.
4. Bed Release
The bed is released and marked for housekeeping, making it available for the next patient.
